About AREDS 2:
AREDS 2 was a 5-year nationwide study that was completed in 2013 by the National Eye Institute. The AREDS 2 study was a follow up on the original AREDS study. AREDS 2 resulted in the NEI's recommendation of a revised formula to help further slow the progression of vision loss from AMD.
The new recommended formulation from the AREDS 2 study is as follows:
