The Complete Story

When Mom and Dad told you to eat your carrots because they were good for your eyes, they were on the right track. As researchers continue to document that we really are what we eat, the value of nutrition in eye health becomes clearer and more accepted.

It is not surprising then that nutrition can play an essential role in cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma and dry eyes. Presently, we are witnessing new breakthroughs in vision loss prevention.

The National Institute of Health (NIH) is studying 4,600 people to follow the effects of nutritional supplementation on eye health. The human eye requires more nutrition to maintain healthy tissue and function than any other organ in the body! The study is identifying which supplements are most important and how these nutrients should be taken.

In order to make life simple for the growing number of people wanting to maintain and protect their vision, Vitamin Health, Inc., has come up with the most comprehensive research based eye multivitamin available today to help maintain eye health, Viteyes® Complete.

Vitamin C is found to be I needed in high concentrations in the lens of the eye and in the tear fluid.2,3

Lutein and zeaxanthin are the two most powerful antioxidants for eye protection, especially for the macula and the lens of the eye. They may also help protect against harmful UV rays from the sun.4,5

Bilberry and grape seed extract have been shown to maintain health circulation in the blood vessels of the eye, helping to maintain the integrity of the capillary walls.6

Alpha Lipoic Acid is one of the premier antioxidants available today. It may help protect the body and the eyes against damage on a cellular level.3

Ginkgo biloba may help increase ocular blood flow to enhance blood distribution to the eye.7

Taurine is found in the retina of the eye and has been shown to be helpful in protecting the optic nerve and the retina.8

In October 2001, the National Eye Institute (NEI) one of the Federal Government's National Institutes of Health (NIH) completed a large ten-year study, the Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS). AREDS proved that the formula in Viteyes macular degeneration vitamins can slow the progression of Macular Degeneration by 25% in people at risk of developing advanced stages of the disease. Viteyes supplies the AREDS recommended formula in only TWO daily highly soluble, easy-to-swallow capsules.

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of blindness in people over the age of 55 affecting over 6 million people in the United States. AMD is the degeneration of the central part of the retina called the macula. The macula is the part of the retina that is responsible for straight-ahead vision. People with AMD should speak with their doctor about macular degeneration vitamins featuring the AREDS formula.
