HOW MUCH ZINC IS TOO MUCH?

The major clinical trials and published results of the Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS) and AREDS2 by the National Eye Institute have been invaluable in the development of eye supplement formulas and offer a framework for eye care physicians. AREDS 2 took a second look at one of the points of contention from the first: how much Zinc is really needed? In the study, the question was posed regarding Zinc and available AREDS 2 formulas having more than twice the recommended daily intake. At the time, there was not much data or discussion about the effects of too much Zinc. However, as we discovered too much Zinc can have negative effects.

HELPING YOU FIND THE RIGHT FORMULAS

In our eight-page white paper, we take a deep dive into the role of Zinc in AREDS 2 supplements. For years, physicians have inadvertently recommended AREDS 2 supplements with double the NIH’s upper tolerable intake level of Zinc that could lead to serious side effects. Download our educational white paper to review and find answers about which AREDS 2 formulas are ideal for you or your patients.

PROTECT YOUR PATIENTS' MACULAR HEALTH

Many doctors have yet to make the connection between Zinc, AREDS 2 supplements, and potential negative side effects. Our white paper seeks to arm you with the knowledge so you can not only support your patients’ macular health, but also protect their wellbeing with a low or no-zinc AREDS 2 formula recommendation. Join in in the discussion and download the Viteyes® Zinc white paper today.
